> Five people, including a six-year-old girl, are dead after a murder-suicide in Grimsby, Ont. Police have identified the gunman as an American who was a former boyfriend of one of the victims.
>
> The first victim officers found was the 23-year-old woman who was at a friend’s house. Police say she was shot in the driveway with a semi-automatic weapon. Neighbours told police the woman’s parents lived nearby on Winston Road, and their front door had been forced. Police entered the house and found the bodies of four people, who were later identified as Shannon Cruse’s parents, her daughter and the gunman, 30-year-old Peter Kiss of Wilwaukee, Wisc.

> Marital separation is a factor that elevates the rate of spousal homicide for women. Ex-marital partners were responsible for 28% of all homicides perpetrated against women, and 10% of homicides committed against men. Although spousal killings that occur after separation are fewer in number than those that occur in intact unions, when calculated as a rate per million couples, the rates for separated women are higher. Between 1991 and 1999, women were killed by estranged husbands at a rate of 38.7 per million. In comparison, an average of 26.4 per million women were killed by current common-law partners, and 4.5 per million were killed by husbands.

Sometimes you can’t live for trying. This is so wrong on so many levels. ☹

Sometimes I really hate being a man.

Not much else to say to that. Sometimes people just suck. Do they just think that you belong to them so much that they can do whatever they want with you? I don’t get it. If it’s over, let it go!

Amen to that. I write stories, some of it crime fiction, and while I can wrap my mind around how some acts are justified, this one completely escapes me. Terrible enough to kill the ex-girlfriend, but the rest of the family? A six-year-old? What possible twisted justification can you have for doing that?

What truly shakes me is that domestic violence is so common. The Stats Canada numbers are horrific, when one correlates them with actual incidents such as the Grimsby executions.

Wrap your mind a bit tighter.

The twisted warped bastard was MAKING HER PAY! sure he shot her, sure, but he was still angry he still wanted to cause her pain and striking out at her family was a way of doing it.
Ya see, He was angry and in his warped view, killing her was a way to make her pay. He kills her, he is not satisfied, go after her family.

The murdering of her family was not premeditated (IMHO) It was an after the fact impulse. Had he considered killing them form the outset he would have dragged her home killed them and then her.

I find it repulsive that people do such things. I sometimes worry that I can understand the warped logic that leads them to such hidious acts.

Somedays I wish the bastards would stop hurting innocents and
a) kindly remove themselves from the gene pool.
b) get a clue and THINK a little.
