# Song from Family Law and ER, does anyone know it?

My mom is trying to find a song that she heard on the CBS show _Family Law_ a few months ago and the NBC show _ER_ last week. She say the singer is female and she knows a few lines of the song, but she doesn’t know the singer’s name or the song’s title. She caught the refrain, “make it go away or make it better, love is not supposed to be this way,” and one other line, “I was born  
alone and I will die alone.”

Not much to go on, I know. I’ve searched a whole bunch of lyric sites without luck. Anybody know this one?

I had never heard of Ms. Chapman, but I was impressed with the song when I saw it on _ER_ and found the answer at alt.tv.er less than 15 minutes after the show was over. This internet thing is incredible.
