Also, deuce rhymes with loose, as in the original lyrics:

There’s a dance song that repeats “These sounds running through my mind” over and over. Until like, a year ago I thought it said, “pizza running through my mind,” which I didn’t find weird at all.

I also thought Demi Lovato’s “Heart Attack” said, “I don’t want to fart out loud,” which in my mind fits into the song’s theme.

Queen real lyrics:
Goodbye everybody - I’ve got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth

I always heard: “…and fade away”
I think mine makes more sense. He certainly fades away, but how exactly does he face the truth?

Cream’s Sunshine of your Love:

Actual “give you my dawn surprise.”

Better lyric “give you my dull surprise.”

Dawn surprise is just a crude euphemism for morning wood, where dull surprise is somewhat cryptic and mysterious.

Also, people (especially us older ones) - The Roaring Silence had the freakin’ lyrics on the jacket! Didn’t y’all ever look at it? There’s no excuse for not knowing Blinded’s correct lyrics

Just now found out that I had that wrong. Always thought the line “dull surprise” was phallic.

_Hey Nineteen_ by Steely Dan

Original lyric: “Make tonight a wonderful thing”

Misheard lyric (and I think better): “Make tonight a wonderful dream”

IMO, “dream” fits better with the music that follows that particular lyric too.

From the theme tune of _Dad’s Army_, a sitcom set in England during WWII

Correct: “Mr. Brown goes off to town on the 8:31”
Misheard: “Mr. Brown goes off to town on the A31”

The A31 as a road did exist at the time, and is in exactly the right place you’d expect characters from the area the show focusses on to use it, and 8:31 sounds a bit late. Of course there would be little to none private motoring.

When I was a kid, I misheard that as “at the age 31”, which makes equal sense: 31 was call-up age, but Mr Brown could have been in a reserved occupation.

**8:21** actually. And you’re right, the A21 runs by where fictional Walmington-on-sea is supposed to be, (near [Dymchurch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walmington-on-Sea), Kent).

Assuming you’re talking about The Buckethead’s biggest hit, the lyric goes "_These sounds fall into my mind._
For years, I thought that the Dire Straits song _Romeo and Juliet_ went:

“You can fall for tainted silver, you can fall for tainted gold.”

When it actually goes,

“You can fall for chains of silver, you can fall for chains of gold.”.

I’d Really Love to See You Tonight - England Dan and John Ford Coley

Real lyrics - There’s a warm wind blowin’, the stars are out, and I’d really love to see you tonight.
Misheard lyrics - There’s a warm wind blowin’ the stars around, and I’d really love to see you tonight.

Quite aside from the fact it sounds WAY more like what he’s actually singing…while obviously not literally true, the wind blowing the stars around is a lovely poetic image that I think works a lot better in the context.

Please read the OP.

I didn’t intend for this to be yet another mondegreen thread where everyone trots out the memes we’ve all heard since the beginning of the interwebs.

Unless your claim is that you’ve long thought that ‘bathroom on the right’ was the correct lyric _and_, once you found out it wasn’t, feel it is a plausible alternative to the proper lyric.

Misheard lyric “Just like a one winged dove.”
Actual lyric “Just like the one we love.”

We had a pair of Mourning Doves that had a nest in the bushes. Mama Dove only had one wing. They raised babies in that bush for 4 years running. We moved so for all I know she is still sitting in the nest popping out babies while Daddy Dove is still scrounging food for her and the offspring.

My other excuse is the video had a white dove flapping about fast enough you couldn’t tell if it had one or two wings.

(Just checked and… we’re past the longest captive bird’s lifespan so… she and he will just be memories.)

Dire Straits, “So Far Away”.

The real lyric:
_Here I am again in this mean old town_

What I heard:
_I hear that Armageddon is a mean old town_

In my defense, if there was a town named “Armageddon”, it would definitely be a mean town!

Posted by someone else in another thread, but I misheard it the same way:

Misheard lyric “I miss the rains down in Africa.”
Actual lyric “I bless the rains down in Africa.”

The misheard lyrics are better. As I figure it, the dude is longing for adventure he can almost feel as a real memory. I don’t quite understand why he would want to ‘bless’ the rains.
