Oscar Brand needs a mention. He did all sorts of stuff. I think he had albums of silly songs for every different branch of the Armed Services. My Dad had the Air Force one. Corny stuff, but whatever.
I was shocked to learn he only died 4 years ago! I figured he was dead for decades.
That was a good one, but mostly they parodied the music while keeping the original lyrics. And adding stuff. Spike was a drummer and it shows. I have large numbers of their CDs including one with a couple of their radio shows.
My mother had a 78 of “Laura” so I know where I got it from.
Indeed he does - my favorite song of his is “One More Minute,” which for the longest time I was sure was a parody of some romantic ballad, but then discovered it was entirely original. Hats off to that kind of talent.
