Terry Pratchett has a theory, according to which all those things that are considered good luck on the wedding day (rain, losing your veil, the bride or a child crying, not seeing the groom until he shows up at the altar, etc…) only became “good luck” on an ad-hoc basis to calm down a bride freaking out 🙂 ---
