Woody Guthrie’s “Do Re Mi” has been mentioned; but I like [Ry Cooder’s version](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IJweR1d0dE)–including Flaco Jimenez …

Robin Williamson (once of the Incredible String Band), wrote “[Pacheco](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8y7fxO2c-E)” about a California visit.

Serves me right for not looking that one up. I had always thought it was Wolf’s. It is a great song.

Dory Previn: “Coldwater Canyon”

_Love_: “Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale” (Streets in greater Los Angeles. Between Clark and Hilldale is the block on Sunset Boulevard where the Whisky a Go Go was (is?) located.)

John Mayall: “Walking on Sunset”. (Another reference to Sunset Boulevard.)

Robert Plant: “[29 Palms](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/29_Palms_%28song%29)”.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned [L.A. Woman](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-wgIht3roA) by the Doors.
