> [@Really\_Not\_All\_That\_Bright](#): > > _Detroit Rock City_ - Kiss. Okay, so it’s about a car _accident_, but that counts, right? I don’t know. If this mix is for listening in the ride, that might be like showing an air disaster movie in flight. 😉 ---

Heh. Reminds me of the time I read the Michael Crichton book _Airframe_ on a trans-Atlantic flight and realized about four hours in why everyone was glaring at me. ---

“Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy)” by Jim Croce might fit nicely. Do we want your friend to be wrapping the vechicle around a tree when she misses the curve due to excess speed, BTW? "Cause so far, it looks like we’re trying to kill her dead. Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf, if no-one’s mentioned it yet. ---

My sole recommendation: [Automobile, by John Prine.](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCpWk8Q-5sA) This song, unlike many of the suggestions, is specifically about the joys of car ownership and driving. Here is the spoken segment that closes the tune: > [@](#): > > It is a beautiful day for a ride > Hey, get your head down I can’t see anything > Someone give me a cigarette > I don’t want to take my hands off the wheel > We ought to take the air filter off this sucker. > So we can see what it will really do. > Uh oh, it looks to me like a HOS-PITAL Zone > Everybody get quiet. Shhhhhhhh. > Don’t wake the dead up. > We’re almost out. Hang on. Uh Oh here we go. > Well, you can just hold it until we get to the next town. mmm ---

Why is there so little mention of my hero, Bruce? My favorites: “Racing in the street” (Darkness) “Wreck on the highway” (should remind your friend to drive carefully) (The River) “Drive all night” (The River) “Highway patrolman” (Nebraska) “Used cars” (Nebraska) “Open all night” (Nebraska) I could go on… And of course also, from Melissa Etheridge “You can sleep while I drive” (not recommended when he drives alone a lot) ---
