Then there’s a song by **Blind Guardian** called _Lord of the Rings_. And let’s not forget the band **Marillion** , it’s obvious where they got their name.

**Homer J** , the “Stairway to Heaven” part was discussed pretty thoroughly [here](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=126556). I think that the overall opinion was that the connections were tenuous at best. I’d say the same thing about parallels between “All Along the Watchtower” and LotR, as you haven’t made a very convincing case. The songs and bands that take their names _directly_ from Tolkien, those are somewhat more believable.
