prince’s “raspberry beret” mentions a job at the five and dime, working for mr. mcgee. the whole song isn’t about said job, but the first verse kind of is. and it’s a great song, so i thought i’d mention it. ---

My favorite has always been “Just Got Paid” by **Rapeman** ; don’t let the name scare you. My wife and I sing this whenever we come home with a check, which I guess is why I fell for her. Depending on your, uh, musical sensibilities, it may be great or jarring. It’s an Albini song, so… It’s not vulgar or anything, it just feature the distinctly jangly guitar sound that only the genius posses and the insane lament.
