Songs that are widely misunderstood

The original recorded lyrics were “kiss the sky.” However, Hendrix was a world-class mumbler, and a lot of people misheard it as “kiss this guy.” When Hendrix found out, he was so amused that in concert he would randomly use either one. (No documentation)

A lot of people apparently think the Green Day song with the line, “I hope you had the time of your life,” is a love song. It is often played at weddings.

However, the title is “Good Riddance,” indicating to me that it is a about breaking up with someone.

Ms. Palin also used Heart’s “Barricuda” until whoever wrote that song filed a cease-and-desist order.

The song is, at least in part, inspired by sexism in the 1970s music community.

Graduations, too, although that might be deliberate.
