Thats from Babes in Toyland! A favorite x-mas movie of mine growing up!

That would be,

"My name is Michael,
I’ve got a nickel,
I’ve got a nickel,
shiny and new.

I’m going to buy me,
All kinds of candy,
That’s what I’m going to do.

My name is Cindy,
when we get married,
we’re going to have us,
a baby or two.
We’re going to let them,
all live together,
That’s what we’re going to do."

Or something like that. I haven’t heard that song for at least 20 years, but it’s one of those songs that just sticks in your brain like a mutant form of musical peanut butter.

I -Think- it might have been B.J. Thomas that sang it.

**Savaka** : Thanks. And the sad thing is, I had a really bad fever. And the only thing that would cure it was MORE COWBELL.

LMAO!!! One of my favorite skits. I’m actually listening to that song right now.

The song that used to freak me out when I was a kid was Unchained Melody. I have no idea why. I just remember being at the lake, where my bedroom was right next to the living room. My dad would play it late at night and I’d lie in bed and cry and wish he would play anything else.

**SopranoRosa** , I immediately thought “In the Year 2525” when I saw the thread title. It still kind of creeps me out.

“The Night Has a Thousand Eyes” also used to scare me. I used to picture a night sky with golden cats’ eyes in place of stars.

Funny enough that when I went to look for the lyrics to DOA, I found a site called “creepy songs”.

Everything by **America** , although now I must admit I love the song “Ventura Highway” (even if Janet Jackson ripped off that fantastic guitar riff).

I’m with **FriarTed** on _Riders on the Storm_. It was the ‘there’s a killer on the road/ His brain is squirming like a toad’ bit that got to me. (And please don’t tell me I misheard the lyric and have needlessly been living in fear all these years!).

I’m in my late-twenties, and this is only going to mean anything to UK dopers, but I always found the music to the sitcom _Butterflies_ really creepy. It’s not the words, it’s the scales in the tune that sound creepy.

Maybe you saw _Ghost_ when you were a kid? If hearing that song brought Patrick Swayze to mind, I’d be terrified too.

LOL Well it was before Ghost came out, so as sound as that theory is, I’m afraid it’s not the reason. I think it was just that haunting melody. I love the song now so I don’t know what my problem was back then!

**M.T.A.** by the Kingston Trio creeped me out as a youngster. The idea that poor Charlie had to ride that train forever made me very sad, especially the part about his wife handing Charlie his sandwich every day through the train window!

At one point in the '70’s there was a spate of creepy songs that I’ve never heard since. I don’t know the names and I don’t know the artists, so I’m not that helpful, but one was about someone’s brother Billy being a werewolf and their father made a silver bullet out of a dinner bell and shot him (even though their mom didn’t want to “see her baby in hell”) and the other was about a young man having sex with his stepmother Judy May while his dad was on the road, hearing a noise and the next thing they know, the dad is dead in a car accident.

I think the song that **Cat Fight** was referring to is from the “Free to Be, You and Me” album. That song might have been sung by Alan Alda or Marlo Thomas - they did most of the songs. The song takes the original song and turns it into a rant against gender stereotyping.

When I was a kid in the '70’s, there was a song I aguely recall about a mine cave in (maybe) and the people trapped below resorting to cannibalism. Scary.

I can’t believe two people have mentioned **Pink Floyd** without mentioning the song that REALLY gave me the willies as a kid - “Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict.” My dad would crank that tune all the way up and I’d bury my head in my lap in the back seat covering my ears, trying not to hear it.

This isn’t the only thing Janet Jackson has ripped off from America. When I heard the intro to “Let’s Wait Awhile” it sounded a lot like the intro to America’s “Daisy Jane.”

The very end of “A Day in the Life” by the Beatles.

Some Dr. Demento song that I’ve completely wiped out of my brain.

About 30 seconds of furious brain-searching came up with the title: **Timothy**. Alas, the brain cells that contain the artist’s name appear to have been re-used for some more meaningful purpose, like Reggie Jackson’s uniform number when we was with the A’s.

**The Book of Rock Lists** has a chapter devoted to death songs and other bizarre and/or inappropriate song material. Great reading.
