Jaysus, I’m going to cry just thinking about these songs. These get me every time, and this is only a very partial list. Being clinically depressed may have something to do with it, eh?

Black Muddy River
Morning Dew
Looks Like Rain
Standing in the Moon
Stella Blue
(all by The Grateful Dead)

Ten Years Gone
That’s The way
(Led Zeppelin)

Comfortably Numb
(Pink Floyd)

Calling All Angels
(Jane Siberry) -call the suicide hotline if this ever gets played within my earshot

She Says
Dilate
(Ani DiFranco)

Wild Mountan Thyme (Will You Go Lassie, Go)
She Moved Through the Fair
(Tradional)

It Doesn’t Matter Any More
(Buddy Holly)
::::::::grabs kleenex and slumps into fetal position:::::::::::

> Listening to a lone bagpipe player in the distance (Amazing Grace) watching the sun go down into the sea.

Bagpipes get me every time. When I was in NYC a few years ago I was on the observation deck of The Empire State Building when I happened upon some police officers who were on their way to a 9-11 memorial service. They were dressed in kilts and had bagpipes. I struck up a conversation with them and asked if they would play Amazing Grace for me. They were all so kind and did, in fact, play. At this point it drew quite a crowd and of course there’s little ol’ me standing next to them with tears streaming down my face. It was hauntingly beautiful.
