I’ve long held a grudge against Gram Parsons for OD’ing & leaving Country Rock to the Eagles. I’ve never bought an album by those smarmy cocaine cowboys. But every time I hear “Take It Easy” I want to turn up the volume & head West in my convertible. (Need to get a convertible first.) And “You’re Gonna Miss Me” by the 13th Floor Elevators. I’ve heard that Paul Drummond, author of the excellent _Eye Mind: The Saga of Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators, The Pioneers of Psychedelic Sound_ has gotten his hands on the masters of the Elevators’ LP’s. If these ever show up in a boxed set, I’d recommend playing the whole thing at top volume… ---

Burning Down the House - The Talking Heads. My favorite song from the band, and damn that song song will test the dynamic response of your system. I’ve dimmed the lights in the house a few times pullin’ amps on that song. Grinder - Judas Priest (Most of “British Steel”, really), Green Manalishi. It’s Priest, it’s meant to be loud, but I love those 2. I see a few other artists I’d nominate, but not the songs I had in mind… Aerosmith - Train Kept a Rollin’ Nugent - Hibernation, Live It Up, Home Bound Thin Lizzy - Emerald Montrose - Make it Last Rush - Here Again Prong - Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck Steely Dan - most anything, their recordings are so awesome, you can flat out crank that shit and it sounds beautiful Rage Against the Machine - Renegades of Funk Van Halen - Intruder (intro into Pretty Woman) Danzig - Twist of Cain, Mother Pantera - Walk, Cemetary Gates ZZ Top - Tush Neil Young - Like a Hurricane Helmet - Unsung I could go on for hours, there’s so many tunes I just have to crank when I hear them. ---
