There’s “I’m Nothin’” by the Violent Femmes and also, on a different end of the spectrum, my second graders at Catholic school love singing the following ditty:
I am a C
I am a C-H
I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N
And I have C-H-R-I-S-T in my H-E-A-R-T
And I line L-I-V-E E-T-E-R-N-A-L-L-Y!
I’m into cheesy Jesus music, but after hearing that song the first eight thousand times, it gets a smidge annoying.
Tammy Wynette had a song that spelled out Christmas. Let’s see if I can remember it all…
C is for the Christ Child, born upon this day
H for Herald Angels in the night
R means our Redeemer
I means Israel
S is for the Star that shone so bright
T is for Three Wise Men, they who travel far (I’m not sure about the last half of that line)
M is for the Manger where he lay
A’s for All he stands for (I’m not sure about this line, either)
S means Shepherds came, and that’s why there’s a Christmas Day.
I haven’t heard that song for at least 10 years, maybe longer.
Oh, G-L-O-R-Y, I’m S-A-V-E-D!
I’m so H-A-P-P-Y to be F-R-double-E (hee-hee!)!
F-R-double-E from the ways of S-I-N!
Glory, glory, hallelujah, tra-la-la amen!
There’s a song from the seventies that goes has a line that gets repeated, as in “R-a-d-i-o-i-o-i-o, r-a-d-i-o-i-o,” but I can’t for the life of me remember more than that or who sang it.
