Songs to quit your job by

The Offspring’s “Why don’t you get a job?” may be an answer for an opposite thread?

Two more from The Ramones:

“Not My Place in the Nine to Five World”
“This Business Is Killiing Me”

When I quit my last job working for an utterly shitty company, I annoyed my coworkers on my last day by singing Walking away by Craig David: “I’m walking away / from the troubles in my life / I’m walking away / Gonna find a better day”.

My entire department had quit within one month of my departure.

The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” would be perfect for the walk out of a building.

The long clock’s warning? Are you sure that’s not the ALARM clock’s warning?

“So Long Superman” (so sorry, had it on a compilation cd once and have totally forgotten the band) had some really great lines in it

“Hey, ho, here we go now
Headed onto the freeway
Just like any other weekday
Except there’s no remorse.”

Come to think of it, can anyone name that band? I’d like to find that song again myself.

Bon Jovi - It’s my life

Good luck!

“I Never Want To See Your Face Again” by The Angels.

“!AAH-AH ,YAWA EM EKAT OT GNIMOC ER’YEHT” was by a cat who billed himself as Napoleon XIV. I can’t believe anyone still remembers that novelty record after so many years. His real name was Jerry Samuels.

“Soup is Good Food” by the Dead Kennedys, on Frankenchrist.
Although that’s more of a getting fired song.

“Soup is good food!
(we don’t need you anymore)
It makes a good meal!
(we don’t need you anymore)
How does it feel?
To be shit out our ass,
and thrown in the cold, like a piece of trash?”

There was another “dull job” song on that album. Something along the lines of:
“I’m working at my job, I’m so happy;
more boring by the day, but they pay me.”

When I finished my thesis presentation, it was a lovely sunny day. On the drive home, the first song I blasted with the windows down was “Free Fallin’” by Tom Petty. Sure, it’s a cliche now, thanks to Jerry Maguire, but it still works for me.

Also, more of a break up or divorce song, but it works for me…

“Daffodil Lament” by the Cranberries

I have decided to leave you forever.
I have decided to start things from here.
Thunder and lightning won’t change what I’m feeling
And the daffodils look lovely today,
And the daffodils look lovely today.

Talk about cliches…did I really just say “it works for me” twice? It’s clearly time for bed.
