A Kiss Could Be Deadly “Midnight Romance”

First: We never meant for this to end up like it did
We never wanted it, no we never wanted it

Last: We never meant for this to end up like it did
We might have wanted it, yeah yeah we wanted it

The _Lion King_ version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” does it in a weird way. It only changes the words because the chorus repeats. And one version has nothing to do with the other.
\*Can you feel the love tonight,
The peace the evening brings?
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
With all its living things?

Can you feel the love tonight?
You needn’t look too far.
Stealing through the night’s uncertainties,
Love is where they are.
\*
Then there’s an outro that’s sung to the same tune (by characters in the movie), so that might count as a third chorus:

**Timon** :
_And if he falls in love tonight,
It can be assumed_
**Pumbaa** :
_His carefree days with us are history!_
**Both** :
_In short, out pal is doomed! [cries]_

The album version I believe is more traditional, with a different chorus each time it is sung. But I can’t recite the lyrics from memory like I can these.

Why creepy?

My contribution is Garth Brooks, Two Piña Coladas:

Hey troubles I forgot 'em
I buried 'em in the sand

Becomes, for the last chorus:

Hey troubles I forgot 'em
I buried her in the sand

He calls it out with a little laugh, too. Now that’s creepy!

Don Henley “Heart of the Matter”… no I’m not going to post all the different choruses.

Rob Thomas “Back 2 Good”… tells a story as the song goes along.

“Both Sides Now” had a marvelously subtle progression as the narrator

looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It’s cloud illusions I recall–
I really don’t know clouds
At all

then

looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It’s love illusions I recall–
I really don’t know love
At all

and finally

looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose, and still somehow
It’s life illusions I recall–
I really don’t know life
At all.

But Judy Collins had the hit with it, and fluffed the lyrics, repeating “win and lose” in both of the two final choruses. If it had been _my_ song, I’d have insisted on another take!

Starting this thread made me think of the hilarious ["Saturday Night"](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uc_BYBVbEGg)by Tom Paxton for the first time in decades.

The first chorus has "George is beginnning to sweat, then choruses 2 & 3 go:

Mary and Eddie are busy indeed,
Making up for lost time in the rear;
George is beginning to faint while a stranger
Is sticking her tongue in his ear.
David’s conducting the next revolution,
Someone is granting the crowd absolution,
Whoever is running her foot up my leg,
I love you.
La la la la, La la la la.

Mary and Eddie are being arrested,
For making up time in the rear;
George is out calling a cab with the stranger,
Who still has her tongue in his ear.
Dave has abandoned the next revolution,
Someone is cancelling his absolution,
Whoever is running her foot up my leg,
I love you.

**The Battle Hymn of the Republic.**
The last line of the verse is repeated as the last line of the chorus.

1. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
\*His truth is marching on. \*

2. His day is marching on.

3. Since God is marching on.

4. Our God is marching on

5. While God is marching on

6. Our God is marching on

In “Our House” by Madness, the chorus is “Our house, in the middle of our street” repeated twice. At the end, it’s repeated several times, then it’s replaced with “that was where we used to sleep.”

I absolutely love that someone with an older join date than myself, and has less than half my posts (and I only have a .3 posts/day average) broke silence for this.

Seriously, not a snark, thank you Doug K. Because that was bugging me too, but I don’t know my musical terminology well enough to know how to correct those errors.
Ignorance fought!

Nearly each chorus of Bob Dylan’s “Idiot Wind” ends with the following last two line:

_You’re an idiot, babe.
It’s a wonder that you still know how to breathe._

Howver, the two lines of the chorus change after the last verse which describes the painful break-up of a relationship:

\*We’re idiots, babe.
It’s a wonder we can even feed ourselves. \*

And looking back I see that \*\*Doug K \*\*has posted semi regularly for the last year or so… guess it was 12 years of silence before that that makes the odd post ratio.

_Mott the Hoople’s_ “The Saturday Gigs”:

Do you remember the Saturday gigs?
We do, we do
Do you remember the Saturday gigs?
We do, we do
The tickets for the fantasy were twelve and six a time
A fairy tale on sale

…

Do you remember the Saturday gigs?
We do, we do
Do you remember the Saturday gigs?
We do, we do
But now the kids pay a couple of quid
'Cause they need it just the same
It’s all a game
A grown-up game

…

But you got off on those Saturday gigs
And we did, we did
'Cause you got off on those Saturday gigs
And we did, we did
And we got off on those Saturday gigs
And you did, you did
And we got off on those Saturday gigs
'Cause you did, you did

From Weezer’s Undone (The Sweater Song):

The normal chorus
If you want to destroy my sweater
Hold this thread as I walk away (as I walk away)
Watch me unravel, I’ll soon be naked
Lying on the floor (lying on the floor)
I’ve come undone

The final chorus
I don’t want to destroy your tank-top
Let’s be friends and just walk away
It’s good to see you lying there in your Superman skivvies
Lying on the floor (lying on the floor)
I’ve come undone

Well, not long before the pay to post era, I A: changed ISPs, meaning no access to the email account I registered with, and B: forgot my password. When I finally decided to de-lurk, TubaDiva was kind enough to help me reset my long dormant password.

Chorus 1: We are stardust.
We are golden.
And we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Chorus 2:We are stardust.
We are golden.
And we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Chorus 3: We are stardust.
Billion year old carbon.
We are golden…
Caught in the devil’s bargain
And we’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden.
