Songs with a long version & short version that each get airplay

And that was one of the rare instances in which the short version was an improvement… the extended instrumental interlude is curiously uninteresting.

Two examples I thought of were “Sky Pilot” by Eric Burdon & the Animals, and “Crimson and Clover” by Tommy James & the Shondells. I’m always bitterly disappointed when the emasculated versions of these two classics of the psych era are played. (As typically happens on Underground Garage… I guess they feel like playing extended songs is antit’etical to their aest’etic.)

I loved White Wedding. I sure do wish Billy Idol had created a lot more music than he did.

The long version of “Crimson and Clover” is gorgeous.
