Might not suit the purists, but I love Reni’s work on this track.

The drums on Faith No More’s cover of “War Pigs” are a big reason why I consider it better than the original version.

I was trying to figure out which Mike Joyce drum part to nominate. I tend to forget him in these drummer threads, but he’s definitely up there.

Another legendary drum part I forgot about is the shuffle in Toto’s “Rosanna.” (And [here’s a clip of Porcaro](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwFdExvCxM4&feature=related) explaining the beat.)

As “In The Air Tonight” has been mentioned, I’ll go with “[I Know There’s Something Going On](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Know_There%27s_Something_Going_On)” featuring Phil Collins on drums.

You might try “[I want Candy](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Want_Candy#Bow_Wow_Wow_version)” by Bow Wow Wow.

I came in to mention him, but on **Masters of Reality** ’s “She Got Me (When She Got Her Dress On)”. The whole CD is drumaliscious actually.

> All right - I’m going to go back and listen, since I respect your and **pulykamell** ’s opinions. Maybe it’s my own prejudices built up over the years - I’ve never been a Zeppelin fan, and haven’t really listened to them (as opposed to heard them) for years. As with Charlie Watts, I’m willing to re-evaluate him. Thanks for the input!

Looking forward to a report back, regardless of how it ends up!

“Skateaway,” by Dire Straits, Pick Withers. Awesome. He quit after that, to spend more time with his family and to play jazz. Too bad, his jazz drumming seems merely straight & standard.

I’ve got to agree with this as well - not just the song, but all four records he played on. His playing on the first Dire Straits record is every bit as excellent and distinctive as Mark Knopfler’s guitar.

I infinitely prefer his work on “Sunrise on the Sufferbus” to anything he did with Cream. I know that’s heretical, but I don’t care.

> Good call on the Squeeze song, too, though I doubt many non-drummers will be able to pick up on why it’s so good.

I’ve listened to this song a few times over the past couple of days and I’m curious, as a non-drummer, what does make this such a good example?

I just stumbled on [this](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_h-saU6gNA) this morning. Sheik of Araby stands out for the sheer enjoyment in Gene Krupa’s playing.

I could easily cross post the Teddy Wilson Chord jabs at the end of the descending run at about thirty five seconds in in the favorite chords thread.
