No, that would be “Love Will Keep Us Together”, written by Neil Sedaka.

And here’s a version from before Captain and Tennille recorded it.

Hmmm…I grew up hearing the “stove” version and, while it’s not perfect, it makes a lot more sense than “flame.” When is a flame NOT hot?

You have a point there, but “stove” just sounds too mundane and non-poetic, while “flame” doesn’t.

</div>

Yeah. I think the point here is that “Flame” may not be the best word in the world, but arguably “Stove” is the worst. Here’s the test: can I think of something worse? How about “Pie”?

> Love is like a pie, burns you when it’s hot

Nope, still not worse (YMMV). Therefore I conclude that the very great Boudleaux painted himself into a corner that he couldn’t get out of.

Annoying. To say the least.

Garth Brooks had a huge hit with _Shameless_.

Written by Billy Joel and released on his 1989 album “Storm Front.” Billy Joel had a top hit “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. Shameless wasn’t released as a single.

Garth heard it a few years later and recognized a potential hit.

Listening to the radio near the end of a drive home, I hear some generic Beatles-like music that sounded vaguely familiar – but then they get to the chorus and I realize it’s “Stop Your Sobbing,” which I knew as an early\* Pretenders song. I ask my smart device who sings it: [it’s the Kinks](https://youtu.be/T8VMjjmSXUY), sounding nothing like I’d ever heard by them before.

\*actually their first single, but I didn’t know that then

If I’m reading everything correctly, of the two brothers that wrote, and originally recorded, the song, one was a member of King Harvest before they recorded it and one was a member after they recorded it.

(Combing quotes from a few different wiki pages)

> “ **Dancing in the Moonlight** ” is a song written by Sherman Kelly, originally recorded in 1970 by Kelly’s band Boffalongo

> Sherman Kelly’s brother [Wells Kelly](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wells_Kelly) introduced the song to the [Paris](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris)-based band [King Harvest](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Harvest) in which he was drummer

> Wells Kelly convinced the group to revisit “Dancing in the Moonlight”, but he left Paris before the song was recorded

> “Dancing in the Moonlight” composer Sherman Kelly, who had not participated in King Harvest’s recording of the single, also officially joined the band for the first time for this tour.

Yup — you are likely aware the the bands’ respective leaders were an all-but-married couple for about a decade.
