People here must not hate America (the group) as much as I do. But I believe that “Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair Supply” are human rights violations. ---

I’ll second or third Steve Miller–how he even got a recording contract is beyond me. And if I ever have to hear any 1930’s and 40’s pop rubbish it will be too soon. I like blues and folk from that era but crap like that godawful “Accentuate the Positive” or any show tunes (particularly those from “Annie, Get Your Gun”) are enough to send me into a blind fury. ---

I severely loathe anything by Rob Thomas, or anything off of _that one Matchbox 20 album_ that had it’s own sorry ass radio station that played it constantly in the 90’s. I think it was called “Yourself of someone like you.” ---

I try to like Lynyrd Skynyrd, I really do. Where I come from, they were just a rock group. Now I live at Skynyrd Ground Zero. I can’t listen to the radio anymore down here, because it’s only a few more songs until they play _another_ Skynyrd record! And what’ll it be this time? Let’s see, eenie meenie miney…awright! “Free Bird!” Southern radio has wrecked that song for me. That’s OK, because in fifteen minutes, they’ll play “Sweet Home Alabama.” Turn it up. I could go a couple of forevers without hearing “Playground In My Mind” by Clint Holmes. And almost every Xmas song ever written. ---

There’s quite a few, of course… Classic Schlock radio overplayed lots of songs to death. As for me, it’s Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American.” Kind of cheesy in a 4th of July fireworks way, but then radio stations just drove it into the ground like a senior citizen’s car into a farmers market immediately after 9/11. For those of you sick of Christmas music, you might try some of the very good jazz albums for a nice departure from the formulaic crap out there. Start with Fresh Aire and David Benoit. ---

Songs I do not with so rhear again… **Nikita** by Elton John. The start of his decline, IMHO; he did some stuff in the seventies that wasn’t bad. Then there’s **The Lady In Red** , but I can’t remember (nor do I really want to remember, I suppose) who it’s by. Oh, and Christmas music. Especially if before November 25th.
