# Songs you never knew the title of...

Or the artist for that matter.
I subscribe to Launchcast and have it playing the Classic Rock Station. On came one song that I’ve always loved. I caught notice of the name and thought “Huh? That’s not the name!”
WHich of course meant that I had to counter with what I thought the name of the song actually was. I had no idea. I also had no idea the name of the artist. It’s one of those songs that I always hear on the radio, and apparently have never heard the name or artist info.
Incidentally, the song was “Baker Street” by Gerry Rafferty.
If you had walked up to me and said that song and artist, I’d have said “Wha?” But if you had sung the first line (which, of course, contains the phrase “Baker Street”) I would have :smack:
This happens quite often. And I mean songs that I’ve listened to for _years_, and loved (I love Baker Street! I just never told it cause I didn’t know who to tell). Tell me I’m not alone…

I suppose I should clarify by saying the hope is that you actually _do_ know the song’s name now, but it was a :smack: moment when you found out. 😛

There are tons that I like but don’t know anything about other than the lyrics. Comes from having only a passing familiarality with rock and pop for most of my life.

Some common ones that people don’t know:
“Escape” by Rupert Holmes - best known as, “The Pina Colada Song”. In fact, after the first release, the record label put “(the Pina Colada Song)” as a subtitle so people could find it in the record store.
“For What it’s Worth”, by **Buffalo Springfield** - You know, the song that goes,
“There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down…”

Good example, I was calling that “Something Happenin’ Here” until I got the Forrest Gump soundtrack.

Dude! That’s exactly the song I thought of when I saw the thread title. Couldn’t remember the name, of course.
