I love dance/trance/house remixes of regular songs. I stumbled across a remix of Ozzy’s _Dreamer_ the other day, and was absolutely thrilled. Two questions: What songs would you like to hear remixes of? And…is there any way you get a particular song remixed? Say I wanted to have, oh I don’t know…Lauryn Hills “Everything Is Everything” mixed. Where would I go for something like that? Do mix people (heh, DJs I guess?) take requests for that sort of thing? ---

Just as an aside… I remember a band ([Fellow Travellers](http://www.JebLoyNichols.com/fellow.htm)), whose bass player would do “dubs” of a couple of tracks of each album. Sometimes these would show up on the album, or on obscure dance CD’s. Finally they put out an album “A Few Good Dubs”. The lead singer, [Jeb Loy Nichols](http://www.JebLoyNichols.com) , has gone solo. Still great music, but much more laid back. I miss the reggae/folk/R&B/C&W/house feel of the group efforts. Oh, ON the subject, I know college students that DJ – they’d remix anything at the drop of a hat. Start asking: someone you know knows someone that has a friend whose dog-sitter knows someone that’d do it. Or do your own! A guy I know records and remixes instruments and vocals in his closet, with a mike plugged into an iBook (total music studio cost \<$1000). I’d like to hear “Emerge” by **FischerSpooner** remixed even more, because it’s a great song and I’ve heard the remixes, they only make a great song even better. It’s a electronica/rock type song. ---

Dub remixes originated from reggae, where the flip side to a single would contain a “dub” remix of the a side, that was stripped back to almost nothing but the bass and drums. Today, dub tends to refer to a reggae influenced, bass and drum heavy track or remix. **QueerGeekGirl** - I remix stuff for fun. I use free programs, so I can’t do everything, but it also means I have to look to creative ways to get new songs out of the source material. Right now I’m remixing Avril Lavigne’s _Complicated_ and trying to find a good song in there. After that I’m planning on doing an electro-clash version of Kiss’ _I Was Made For Loving You_. If you have a request, I’ll do it for you, but I can’t guarantee that it’ll be done any time soon or that you’ll be happy with the results. So, Lauryn Hill was it? And I guess my answer to the OP can be found above. I like songs to be remixed if I think that they have potential that isn’t revealed in the original version. The two songs I mentioned definitely fit the bill. ---

Whoa! **gex gex** , that would be AWESOME. Actually, Lauryn Hill was just a song that popped into my head. What I actually want remixed is Ozzy’s _Time After Time_. If you could do that, I’d definitely owe you one! I’ll trade you some free graphics work or web design or whatever you can think of (slinging crack and pimpin’ hoes, included of course). Waiting Room by Fugazi I could list about 500 more, I am a remix junkie but Waiting Room is the one I am wanting the most right now. I write EDM and will be attempting my first remix with it. ---

Dance remixes often improve on the original. And turning a cheesy ballad into a happy hardcore song makes it listenable and fun.
