A salute to Rock Cheese: most people know Jim Steinman wrote Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell album (and its sequel), but he also wrote Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” Air Supply’s “Making Love out of Nothing at All,” and Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” (which was originally recorded by Steinman’s own short-lived band). Dude’s had a successful writing career stretching from the 70’s all the way through the 2000’s.
Not a fan of the style she writes for, but Cathy Dennis doesn’t half churn out some catchy pop tunes, and has Ivor Novello and Grammy awards to prove it:
