I certainly wouldn’t count Nintendo out of the picture just yet. Of course I wouldn’t say that Nintendo is completely safe with Sony entering the hand held market. Right now Nintendo is king of the hand held market and knocking them off that perch might prove difficult. Of course Nintendo used to be king of the console market and look what happened to them.

Eh… sounds expensive. GB will gradually improve, and get the price right for those who want port gaming. GameGear was technically greater than the (then) single colored casing, dim-green screen GB.
Games. It’s games that make or break a console, at least to a certain extent (I add the qualifier as obviously even though the SNES has great games, it’s not still being sold).
Regardless, if the PSP has lots of great games, or perhaps more cruicially, better games than the Gameboy Advanced, then I expect that it will eventually push Nintendo down to a minority share of the market.
