Miraculously only 1 died (thanks to our excellent nursing staff keeping a close eye on EVERYONE). Many were very ill. Many had next to no symptoms. Now I’m busy with “long covid”, folks with chronic fatigue, chest pain, shortness of breath, mental fog, elevated liver and muscle enzymes. All this months after their infection. No effective treatment for that. All of our inmates who are willing to take the vaccine are now vaccinated, the rate ran around 70%, we hope to convince more. We’ve not had a new covid case in months. Staff still turn up infected (we get tested every 2 weeks) but not in great numbers. We lost a few staff too, to the virus. I never had it, I was antibody negative. Got fully vaxxed myself with the last dose over 3 1/2 months ago. So I’ll ride this pandemic out until things are more stable (assuming things continue to get better) and then pack it in. I’ve had enough. That’s my pain. ---
