I’m glad you’re going to finally get your place to yourself. However, I really think you should use this as an opportunity to rethink whether confrontation is really as bad as you’ve built it up in your head. I used to be non-confrontational in the same way, where it seemed easier to keep putting up with a mildly disagreeable situation rather than have an uncomfortable discussion with someone. When you think about it, though, if you’re not careful you’ll spend your whole life putting up with annoying shit and feeling like a doormat rather than suffer through a few days of unpleasantness here and there. You owe it to yourself not to let that happen – you don’t want to look back on your life and see a long string of bullshit you didn’t have to suffer through which could have been easily avoided. Regardless, congratulations on your soon-to-be-improved living situation! ---

Hey Alice, I have been in your situation pretty much. I had too roommates who moved in with me and started treating me like crap. Tore up my stuff and one of them stole money from me. My landlady hated them, they made a huge mess in the backyard and just left it (I was out of town) till the landlady finally cleaned it up herself. They had parties, invited close freinds of mine and didn’t invite me. Convinced said freinds that I was crazy. I went on a business trip and one of them slept in my bed, threw my clean laundry on the floor, changed my alarm, and serched my room for the package of tp I had stashed because they were too cheap to ever buy any. They never bought a roll in the time they liived there. I finally told them they had 30 days to get out. When they said they didn’t want too, I told them either they did or i did and if I did the landlady would quadruple the rent. Working my nerv up to kick them out was the hardest thing I ever did, I knew I would lose friends but I can make new friends. It would be hard to make the rent but giving up a few things was better than feeling unwelcome in my home and watchin my stuff get torn up. The poor impulse control overcame the dread of confrontation. I think it is harder for women because we are taught to be gracious hostesses. Anyway… Ding Dong! The wicked witch is gone! Whoo Hoo! Much celebrating. ---
