What is the background chorus singing in between some of the lines in the song ‘As I Lay Me Down’:

Don’t Know, every time I hear any Song from her it makes my Ears Bleed. I hate her Music - Especially As I Lay Me Down and Damn Wish I Was Your Lover. Damn I Wish I Could Erase My Data Banks of both those songs.

According to someone on the [Official Sophie B. Hawkins Web Site](http://www.thecreamwillrise.com/dcforum/SophieB/1308.html) message board, they are singing “oh la ka koh”, which is supposed to be some kind of African chant to bring a loved one home.
