# Sound

Assume that I have managed to get a couple episodes from T.V shows (CSI) but 90% of them play w/o sound. At first I thought that my player may be outdated, so I downloaded Real player, Divx player, WMP, and I still can’t get any sound. Anything else on the comp i still get sound (and yes the volume is high enough)
ANy ideas?? this is really frustrating

Describe the physical setup. Is there a chance that you’re missing an audio cable from, say, the video card to the speakers?

nope, i get sound from cd player, from other movies, from winamp…from tv tuner…and even some of the episodes…so im thinking its either the person recording it fubar 'd it, or i need to update…something 😛

The problem is most probably as you first thought that you haven’t got the up-to-date software to play them. Some formats need the newest drivers in order to get sound, I have had this problem many times myself as getting hold of the lastest drivers isn’t as easy as it should be (it’s not just a case of downloading the lastest version of DivX, etc.). I can’t tell you much more than that as I haven’t been able to resolve the problem myself.
