That was a lot funnier then last week’s episode. I haven’t seen “The Core” but I suspect I didn’t need to to get the joke. And for some reason, I thought it was hilarious when cartman said he needed a black guy in case someone needed to be sacirificed. As well as when they were driving through the crowd of hippies in the drill. It does surpise me that Chef would go through with it considering his opposition to “Operation: Human Shield” in the movie. And speaking of which, exactly why is he on the city conciel? For that matter, why is Barbrady? And did anyone else find it rather wierd that the Mayor has amazing powers of recuperation? It’s one thing to have someone pull a kenny, it’s another to have them survive what would be a normally fatal wound with little more then a badage needed. ---

All it took was for Cartman to say “College Know-It-All Hippies on spring break” for me to squeal in recognition. Say what you will about South Park playing up stereotypes, but I swear half those hippie-types live down the hall from me! 🙂 At the very least, I swear I’ve heard this exchange verbatim: “Man, the corporations. They’re, like, so selfish. They’re just out to make money, and they’re, like, raping the world and stuff.” “So…what are you going to do about it?” “…The corporations, man. They’re like, so _selfish!_” ---

This one should have been the season opener, it was much better than last week. Pop culture satire featuring the boys is the show at its best. I have not seen “The Core” either, I assumed they were goofing on generic action movies. The description of the various levels of hippie infestation struck me as very funny. ---

Everytime they spoof hippies I think it’s weird, because I haven’t seen any in a long time. It’s about as timely and relevent to me as spoofing flappers. But I guess that’s just where I’m at, obviously others in this thread see 'em still. I did like the spoof of ‘The Core’. Having to drill through hippies is pretty funny. ---

Where in the USA are you, **Revtim**? I’m assuming you’re nowhere near San Fransisco. The variety we get most around here are the Know-It-All College Hippies, because of SUNYA. We also have a few never-grew-up '60s holdovers, but they’re faculty. Cartman is right, Know-It-All College Hippies are the worst. ---

Actually, some of it did remind me of Armageddon(The music, the manificent 7 walk in the orange suits), but the whole bit about the drill was out of the core(from what I’ve seen in the trailors). There’s dozens of hippies here in Ashland, OR. I think the springtime brings them out. I can see some of them now, walking down the street with their prairie skirts and unwashed hair and peace buttons on their hemp bags… _opens window_ GET A JOB! ---

I think there was some “Independence Day” in there too–the part where they uploaded the Slayer music into the hippies’ sound system. ---

And I missed the first few minutes of the episode— :smack: —but I did come in on the part where Cartman storms in on the city council meeting to demand they close the beaches…er, stop the hippies. They do that occasionally. I liked the one where Chef is talking to the scientist guy (the one with the bull’s penis walking stick). He’s talking about zombies, and then stops in mid-sentence, looks at Kevin (the scientist’s lacky) and says something like, ‘What _are_ you, anyway?’ ---
