(Had a German roommate in college, told him that, and he hit the floor, nearly pissed himself he was laughing so hard.) ---

I was surprised that the actual Jesus didn’t show up. I mean, he lives right there in the town. A little over the top but a good episode. I know it’s wrong, but I really thought the Jewish folks in the temple (and since when did SP get so many Jews? Why is Kyle so lonely at Christmas?) were hilarious with the voices and the kvetching. ---

I kept waiting for the funny to start, and the funny never started. The last word of the German chant was (or was supposed to be) _ausrottung_. Use of the word in Nazi documents has been one peg on which Holocaust deniers have hung their case. They claim that the word simply means “removal,” as in deportation, but can’t really explain why the same word is used in relation to things like delousing (presumably the Nazis did not deport lice). ---

No one has mentioned my favorite line from the episode. I’m paraphrasing, but it’s when he’s yelling at his mom to answer the door and after a couple of times yelling and getting no response he says - Goddammit… lazy ass whore! Very inappropriate and childish humor, but I love it. ---

The scene from “The Patriot” where he ferociously hacks the guy up with an axe and is covered in blood also comes to mind, although that wasn’t his character getting tortured or killed in that instance. ---

And no, it was done on computer. Re: Mel Gibson and torture - he’s also sort of tortured in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome when he’s cast into the desert to die. Come to think of it, it’s not like nice things happen to him in Mad Max and Gallipoli either. ---
