Lemmiwinks. Never saw that episode. I gather from posts that it’s to do with Mr. Slave’s colon.

The Frog Prince. From the Lemmiwinks episode?

Butters dressed as a bear (in this week’s episode). Does Paris Hilton do something with teddy bears?

Jewbilee. I don’t remember: Was that Moses, or the Metron? Was the voice a ST:TOS reference?

Moses was a reference to _Tron_. He’s modeled after the Master Control Program.

Correct on both counts. It’s one of the funnier and grosser episodes ever, and also owes a debt to the old animated film of The Hobbit.

In the Paris Hilton episode, the pre-school teacher was kept alive in a box and could only communicate by beeping. I saw that reference on Futurama twice. What’s it from, then?

Christopher Pike, from ST:TOS, ‘The Cage’.

That was the pre-school episode, not the Paris Hilton episode.

Anyway, so far as I can tell it’s a reference to Davros, the leader of the Daleks in Doctor Who.

Hmmm. Maybe to the old Star Trek:TOS episode with Christopher Pike? He was severely crippled and could only communicate by beeping yes or no.

In an amusing way that no one IRL catches, the “Cheesy Poofs” song is the theme to NPR’s _All Things Considered_. It always kills me that no one seems to pick up on it.

Calculate, for a moment, the possible number of people who both watch _South Park_ and listen to NPR. Then calculate the odds of running into such a person.

The “Stan Marsh??? More like Stan _Darsh_!” from the Asspen episode.

Cracks me up… I still don’t get it. I started a thread a while back, and the general consensus was that it wasn’t supposed to make sense.

The entire “Asspen” episode was based on Hot Dog: The Movie, a teen comedy from the '80s.

To elaborate on **Big Bad Voodoo Lou** ’s post, there’s an exchange in _Hot Dog_ in which one kid calls out another kid (named Garnisch) by calling him “Garshit.” Part of the joke is that in _Hot Dog_, it’s one of the underdog protagonists that does this to a stuck-up hot-dogger, and from the context it’s clear that we’re expected to take it as a withering and incredibly witty insult. The exaggerated weakness is ripping on the crappy screenwriting.

(It should be noted that there are some references to _Aspen Extreme_, as well as _Hot Dog - The Movie_, in _Asspen_. Although _Aspen Extreme_ is from the early nineties, it tracked the eighties into the decade like so much melting snow in a ski-lodge.)

Maybe, but I recognized an AWFUL lot of references to “Better off Dead” in there… perhaps the films are similar, both being ablout skiing…

I thought a bit of it was a parody of “Better off Dead”

Agreed, and I’ve actually seen Better Off Dead, so that’s what I thought originally. I’ve never had the guts to sit through Hot Dog: The Movie, but from what I’ve read, it is the closest for source material for that episode.

Huh-- I’ve never even _heard_ of _Ski School_ or _Ski Patrol_.

It’s funny that they list _Aspen Extreme_ as an eighties movie. Apart from the release date, it _is_ an eighties movie. 😃

\<Hairsplitting nitpick\>

Actually, it was a reference to Christopher Pike from ST:TOS “The Menagerie”, which was a re-packaging of “The Cage” with some extra “bumper” story set around it. Christopher Pike was never burned or disabled in “The Cage.”

\</Hairsplitting nitpick\>
