You know, I haven’t been impressed with SP in years, but their S18 premiere was fucking hilarious!
Anybody else enjoy this episode?

I loved it, but I like South Park in general.

That ep was hella lame, brah. They didn’t even seem to know if they were making fun of the Redskins or SJW’s or even just frikin crowdfunding. I hate that they only have eps one time a year now, makes unfunny ones like this seem all the worse.

I miss the Cartman of the early years. But he’s not coming back. This episode was great, even for someone like me who doesn’t follow football. The logos were hilarious.

When I saw a clip of this played on some other show it was the scene where Dan Snyder goes to their office and demands they stop using the name. In it Robert Griffin III was the player who was with him (Jay Gruden being the third person).

I just watched the episode on Hulu and they’d swapped out Kirk Cousins for Griffin. I love that they did that.

I loved it. I thought the image of Snyder crying was a brilliant parody.

I noticed this too. But they also left out all the “Washington Redskins. Go fuck yourself!” lines so maybe it was a special made clip for the promos.

I know nothing about football. Why is that funny? I did notice the difference between the two clips, though.

Robert Griffin III is injured and Kurt Cousins is the quarterback while he recovers.

How the heck did they show that episode on TV? Did they blur out the naughty bits?

(Also, when did Hulu take over South Park Studios? The new website blows.)

It wasn’t funny, it was impressive.

Most animated shows, like the Simpsons, take forever to produce. Something like an eight month turn-around to produce any given episode.

South Park isn’t animated by hand, but instead generated by computer. So they have a much faster turn-around. Much, much, much faster. Faster than pretty much any show on television, animated or not. They typically create an episode from scratch a week or maybe two weeks before it actually airs. (Compared to scripted television, which shoots a month or so before airing, or reality tv which shoots 4-6 months before airing.)

In this case, RGIII had recently gotten injured, so the South Park team went in and quickly changed it to the backup QB before it went to broadcast.

I had to show this clip to my teen-aged kids, who still didn’t quite find the parody as funny as I did

The time between the end of production and first airing is typically only a day and sometimes is only hours. The documentary “6 Days to Air” shows the insane production process that allows them to be more topical than any other non-news show on TV.

If anyone is interested is why Snyder is such an dick, even not counting the Redskins name, here ya go:

[The Cranky Redskins Fan’s Guide to Dan Snyder From A to Z (for Zorn), an encyclopedia of the owner’s many failings.](http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/articles/40063/the-cranky-redskins-fans-guide-to-dan-snyder)

Snyder then sued the _City Paper_ for publishing the article (although later dropped): [Ridiculed, an N.F.L. Owner Goes to Court](http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/07/business/media/07carr.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0).

Some gems:

> [@](#):
>
> Back in November, when Daniel M. Snyder, the owner of the Washington Redskins, was pilloried at length in a piece in the Washington _City Paper_, a local weekly, he had a number of options: He could have ignored the article, contacted the newspaper and asked for equal time or corrections, or he could have used his bully pulpit as the owner of both a pro sports team and a number of local radio stations to respond.
>
> Mr. Snyder chose none of the above, instead commissioning David P. Donovan, the general counsel of the Redskins, to write a letter to the owners of the newspaper that included the following paragraph:
>
> “Mr. Snyder has more than sufficient means to protect his reputation and defend himself and his wife against your paper’s concerted attempt at character assassination. We presume that defending such litigation would not be a rational strategy for an investment fund such as yours. Indeed, the cost of the litigation would presumably quickly outstrip the asset value of the Washington _City Paper_.”
>
> …
>
> The _City Paper_ article in question was an encyclopedic litany of complaints about Mr. Snyder’s tenure that ran literally from A (for the American Enterprise Institute, which cited the Redskins as a “seriously mismanaged” franchise) to Z (for Jim Zorn, a former Redskins head coach, but here used as a verb to describe humiliating an employee by taking away his duties) and just about everything in between, including H (for Pat Hill, the down-on-her-luck 73-year-old grandmother who was sued by the Redskins when she could not afford payments for her club seat contract).

Kudos to _South Park_ for skewering this pompous ass.
