Do they have Scrapple in the UK? “Spam” fits the meter of the song better, but scrapple is the better breakfast food. ---

The Brits really struggled with rationing and such for quite a while after WWII. A lot of people couldn’t afford decent food and Spam became a substitute for real meats. Spam as a basic foodstuff continued long after things got a bit better. So using it in a sketch in that era was harkening back to those earlier times. ---

Thanks, **ftg** , for an interesting slant on the sketch. My only beef 🙂 with Spam is the high sodium content, which would probably kill me in a month. ---
