I kinda doubt the ‘troll’ theory, or at least the ‘targeted troll attack’ theory. I don’t exactly piss-off too many people, but there the messages are. Many of the othes that have already posted are equally, or even less, offensive. ---

That dude was on vacation (Or vac, he must think he’s “hip”) (probably just insulted someone on this board, oh well…) This thread is growing at lightspeed. If this happened at 9 AM Monday, this board would overload and explode, burning down Chicago again. This would cause mass rioting, and the banning of internet Spam, and real SPAM, so then Treet would become the dominant meat in a can. I sense conspiracy from the folks at Treet (Armour, IIRC), good thing their email backfired and went off early! Western Civilization is saved again… ---

I got these today too. All came to my public email, which is the same one listed on the SDMB. I got maybe 25 copies of each, not an enormous amount of mail for me, but it was still quite irritating. ---

I, too, got the “You’re using my old E-mail address” one, and a few replies. I ignored it at the time, as that E-mail account gets a lot of Spam. I just filter all incoming E-mail into my Junk Mail folder and, after a cursory scan for anything useful, just delete it all. ---

I would be MORE than fucking happy to help in any sort of revenge, seeing as I just cleared out my non-spam e-mail after seeing SIXTY FUCKING MESSAGES. …allright, admittedly, like five of them were personal messages, but fuckin’ still… I’d think in this case, though, legal action would be best. Also, it would be good to have someone save all of the messages sent out (evidence, you know). I doubt it’s everyone who pissed off a troll…the only person I’ve pissed off/flamed was Bossk/whatever his other incarnation was. Otherwise, I’m a perfect **Angel** :D. Fuckers. :mad: ---

One thing you could try - find out who he registered the domain name for any websites he is advertising with and send them a letter of complaint (attach a copy of the spam). Some host companies and registrars will pull it. Then find out everywhere the message went through to reach you and send them a complaint. With luck at least one will block messages from that address. With more luck, one of them’s a civil server (.edu or the like) which can send nasty legal letters to him about using their bandwidth. Then, if you can find his personal email address, send him a copy of the above letter, as well as contacting his personal host with a similar letter about his conduct. Not quite the same situation, thank god, but the above did stop [satellite.com](http://satellite.com) from email bombing (possibly unintentionally) my account with over 300 messages in 30 minutes, each night. Failing that, if he won’t unsubscribe you, forward any messages you receive from the list back to his personal account. ---

I got hit by that raraavisband thing, too. Opened up my email and got nailed by SEVENTY NINE fucking spam mails. On an account that gets maybe two or three a month, tops. And the unsubscribe message bounces, “host name unknown”. Bleh… ---

badrats wasn’t actually sending them, it’s listbot was replying to the list every time someone emailed the list because it was on auto-responder. badrats have no idea how THEIR addy got on the list either. The list itself seems to belong to Steve Richards of sobevideo. Check the ATMB thread for more info. ---
