The first ten million years were the worst. And the second ten million years, they were the worst too. The third ten million years I didn’t enjoy at all. After that I went into sort of a decline. ---

When I told them what I saw, they got very quiet, and looked at me with great, quiet eyes. Quiet can tell you so much. Until they looked at me that way, I was certain that I had seen what I had seen. Dead certain. Of course, I hadn’t. It was just that my life had become a nightmare, so naturally I saw the sort of things that inhabit a nightmare world. I saw a monster. When I told them that, they got very quiet. ---

I can’t believe that Godzilla was the only surviving member of its species… But if we continue conducting nuclear tests, it’s possible that another Godzilla might appear somewhere in the world again. ---
