Speaking of Darth Vader's corpse...

Said cultural belief starting 1.35 seconds after the first general attempted to pin a medal on a Wookie.

See, that would have made a perfect credit role for a Robot Chicken Star Wars episode.

Qui-Gon didn’t disappear, though.

He didn’t die in front of Luke.

Been a long time, but I was 11 when the first film came out so I was excited about the infamous Holiday Special (but even at 12 when I saw it I thought it was one of the worst things I’d ever seen!) Anyway, I seem to remember reading an interview with Lucas back then (might have been in TV Guide) and one of the things he mentioned was that the Holiday Special would explain why Chewie didn’t get a medal. Something to do with that godawful ‘Life Day’ bullshit…

Oh! So it’s Luke’s fault now?
He’s force-dissolving the bodies of other knights?

[COLOR=DarkGreen]Hmm…Dad always told me to get rid of the evid–wait! I’m a Jedi now, a good guy!
Awww…then again, ‘old habits’ and all…

–G!
This and Skald’s survey have got to me the most twisted (and hilarious) Star Wars threads I’ve ever seen.

Die in front of Luke.

This reminds me of another Star Wars question :

What was Stormtrooper armor for? In the original trilogy, it did not appear to improve blaster fire accuracy. I do not recall seeing a stormtrooper survive a single hit from incoming handgun fire at any point in the OT. I don’t recall it providing any protection again dwarf bears armed with spears. It’s bright white and provides no camouflage.

It keeps you from getting knocked out when you smack your head into the doorframe. Also, sunblock.

Camouflage was never an issue. The armor is meant to evoke fear and obedience, not hide the wearer.

As for the rest, the helmets provide communications, some degree of protection from gas, and access to on-board data. The rest of the armor functions as armor does today: to protect from random crap flying around. Nothing will block a direct hit.

Yes, it’s purely aesthetics, not practicality or real-world logic. And from an aesthetics point of view I have to give Lucas credit for making the ‘the bad guys wear white’ reverse-trope actually work.

How lame is that?

Even a glancing blow by a blaster bolt will drop a Stormtrooper…

Unless in reality the Stormtroopers are really just incredibly lazy and just feign being hit bad.

Not sure what a “glancing blow” means in the context of blaster fire, but if someone misses and takes a chunk out of the wall next to you, that chunk of wall is less likely to injure you.

You’re also less likely to have your face messed up by a Wampa claw.
