The San Francisco Bay Area runs on Craigslist. It’s free (except for job postings) and although there’s plenty of porno M4W ads, there’s also plenty of decent guys out there. And SoulSearching – “we live in a society where attractive, or even semi-attractive women can get all the dates they can handle, meaning there is no need for any online ads” – uh, yeah. Get a clue. ---

The reason I have online ads up is that I have very little time to engage in activities where I’d meet suitable men person-to-person. And I’m looking for a man with specific qualities that aren’t going to come up easily in a happenstance meeting at Borders. I work in a small company and every man is married, so meeting men there is out. I am at work 12 hours a day, so there’s not a lot of time to go hanging out at bars (ick) or take classes or join a club. And by the way, while, yes, I think I am attractive enough, I have received several hundred emails offering some variation on the opinion that I am stunningly beautiful. (Really, it’s just good pictures, which I tell them. Besides, THEY are the ones saying it, not me.) I have many _straight women_ write to me commenting on how beautiful my picture is. And I know plenty of other real women who have gorgeous pictures and well-written profiles. Your assumption that we’re all “fake” is misguided. If anyone “doesn’t need” to put up an online ad, wouldn’t it be an intelligent, educated, single, tall dark & handsome MAN? They’ve got the world in their hands, right? They can probably get any woman around all aflutter over them. So why do they put ads up too??? Oh, maybe they’re all “fake” too. ---

"a few extra pounds’ = 100 lbs Cause at [match.com](http://match.com) I see ads from my friends & I know how they look. craigslist is better than [match.com](http://match.com) because [match.com](http://match.com) doesn’t date their ads. I have seen lots of posts about people never getting a response from [match.com](http://match.com) clients… I like to look at the dating sites just to see who is up on them as I have a rather small city.
