Amazon is adding a surcharge to account for the increased cosds engendered by this war.

And Bezos doesn’t have, as Republicans say, the testicular fortitude to name it after Trump. Which is weird, I thought Trump loved seeing his name on things.

Amazon tried to label a surcharge for tariffs and Trump shot that down. I wonder if Amazon has the fortitude to keep the surcharge if faced with opposition from the current administration. Bezos has a track record of kissing Trump’s ass.

Bezos should just call it Iran surcharge and blame the mullahs. Then thank President Ineptstein for whatever and make a donation to his charity. Problem solved.

3.5% surcharge, hmm… not bad. **[First they came for](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_They_Came)** sellers, not for buyers. Yes, I can see that working just fine. 3.5% is above the official inflation figure, isn’t it? As long as the surcharge is applied only in the USA and Canada it is not my problem, so no consequences.

From the Canadian perspective (Trump is not our leader; we are not involved in the Iran war), this is very much a problem. Just not one we can do anything about. (Those of us who are also American citizens keep voting against the Republicans, but voters abroad are not a voting bloc in the US system so it does no good.)

1. Yet another opportunity to enrich himself and his insider-trading cronies by timing market buys and sales against announcements either pro or con about the war.

My apologies, I thought that posting a link to “**[First they came for](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_They_Came)**” in **bold** would show that it was meant sarcastically. Not blaming you, nobody has to open a link or get a cultural/historical reference (yes, me of all posters would write that, funny!), just correcting an erroneous impression.

The entire Trump administration, and everyone he has appointed are the most clueless incompetent morons to ever come down the pike.

I worked for small county government for decades. IS department. We have better security than the head of the FBI does.

That has caused the price of oil to rocket past $100 a barrel, and its availability to diminish.

So, the deadline approaches, will Iran cave? will Trump TACO again? will no one blink and the U.S. proceed to massively bomb Iran? if so, how close to the “War Crimes” line will it get?, what will happen afterwards?

My prediction:

- Iran will not cave
- Trump will not TACO
- The US will escalate bombing to just the line of the strictest possible definition of war crime (IE: no desalination plants bombed, but almost everything else is fair game) and when possible above it (“accidentally” bombing some targets that would hardly be valid military targets).
- Afterwards Trump will renew his threats and ultimatums, promising to go even further, Iran will continue to defy him.

I hope I’m wrong.

ETA: Something that I didn’t include: What would be Iran’s retaliatory measures?

trump does not appear to be stable right now, and due to his stupidity and others, seems to have backed himself into a corner. He will probably lash out to save face. I mean, look at the list of stupid decisions…he thinks he is above the law. Plus…the weird religious overtones being talked about, end times etc. Not good signs.

Because it’s reaching the point where he can no longer TACO without severe loss of face.
