Anybody got any? I know I’ve had such a dessert, but I can’t recall what it was or how it was made. I do know that it had just enough heat to it to give you a taste, not enough to send you launching for your drink.

Ummm…OK, so I’ve got an unusual notion of what constitutes “dessert”?

Oooooooh…I used to have a recipe someplace for a dessert with spicy chocolate…I think it had something to do with strawberries.

## I do have a recipe for spicy hot chocolate - this help?

Heat 4 cups of milk in a doubleboiler at medium-low. While the milk is warming up, mix the following in a new bowl:

½ cup cocoa
1 tsp flour
¼ cup dark brown sugar
¼ tsp nutmeg
3 crushed cloves (not ground - smash whole cloves with the flat side of a big knife)
¼ tsp crushed chili peppers (or more…I go a little heavier on the chili peppers)
1 crumbled cinnamon stick

Sift the cocoa powder and flour. Add a bit of milk and stir the cocoa/flour mix until it becomes a paste. Slowly add milk and continue to stir. It should turn into a paste. If you add milk too fast, you get clumpy cocoa and have to pull out the hand mixer. When all the cocoa and flour are a paste (no more dry flour,) add the spices.

Add the cocoa stuff to the milk and stir constantly to keep it from scorching.

When the cocoa is hot scoop off the chunky stuff with a slotted spoon and add:

2 tsp (or more, depending on your taste) powered sugar.
1½ tsp vanilla

I have no recipes, but I once had a Chipotle Chocolate Ice Cream that was so good I just about died. Gonna have to figure out how to make that one.

There used to be a restuarant around here that served a flourless chocolate cake with Habenaro Chile Sauce. If I remember, they used a rasberry compote and added Habenaros to give it spice . Don’t know proportions - I’d go for dried Habenaros and start with a small amount, work up, cooking the chiles into the rasberries. You can always dilute with more compote, so keep some aside.

Plus, since its only the sauce that would have the spice, you can make another sauce with no spice if you are catering to multiple tastes.

This might not be the same kind of “spicy” the OP requests, but it’s what I thought of when I read the thread title, and it’s been popular at our house for some years.

**SPICY COCOA THINS**
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1/3 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon EACH of
ginger
allspice
cinnamon
nutmeg
1/3 cup of butter, melted
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts

Oven to 300 degrees
Grease 15"x10" jelly roll pan.
In medium bowl, stir together sugar
and cocoa. Add flour, salt & spices.
Mix. add butter, egg and vanilla;
stir till smooth. Pour into prepared
pan and spread evenly.
Sprinkle top with nuts.

Bake on center rack 13 to 15 minutes.
Reverse pan halfway through baking to
ensure evenness. For crisp cookies,
bake 3 to 5 minutes more. Cool in
pan 3 minutes. With a sharp, pointed
knife, cut into 50 (1"x3") rectangles,
cutting 10 strips on short dimension
and five on long side. Cool on racks.
Store in airtight containers for up
to 10 days; freeze for longer storage.

The batter spreads in a fairly thin
layer and is not going to look very
impressive, but the taste is haunting.

Bon appetit!

**AHunter3** , yeah, turkey legs aren’t normally considered dessert.

**Dangerosa** , I don’t really have time for experimentation, plus I think the dessert that I had was a chocolate pie.

A google search for “recipe chile chocolate pie” returns 6300 hits.

The top hit is a chocolate, chile, pecan pie, which looks good - except I’ve never had a bit of success with pecan pie - I’d post a link, but since you weren’t specific about pie in your OP, I’m not
jumping to the assumption you are looking for nuts.

I will post this one though, as I am a cake person, same search, cake instead of pie.
