# Spider-Man 3 villain cast, but who will he play?

The symbiote would be too hard to explain in a movie, since it ties into the Secret Wars, Peter’s alien costume, the Fantastic Four, and all that. I like the Venom origin from the underrated '90s animated series, which had astronaut John Jameson (a character in the second movie!) bring a moon rock back to Earth that was infected with the symbiote. Nice and simple. I actually expected they would go that route and use John Jameson as Venom, since he’d have a reason to hate Parker as well as Spider-Man. But I think Venom is a good villain and I like Topher Grace, so I remain enthusiastic.
