But Stiltman has really long legs, so he may steal things from really tall buildings.

Given the retro style that’s about nowadays my vote goes for [Angar The Screamer](http://www.geocities.com/marvel_villains/angar/angar.html).

My vote is for the Black Cat. I always loved the witty banter between her and Spidey.

The Black Cat? So instead of a cool, classic supervillian, you think they should feature a shapely blonde with furry cuffs and a skintight black costume?

What makes you think that anyone else would want to watch that?

> 1. The fusion thing at the end. I was screaming “Self-sustaining!” in my mind well before the good Doc mentioned it, and was kind of curious how they were going to stop it. I figured they’d come up with something more ingenious than the river… but hey, what can you do. That said, though, would that work? Can you “drown” a mini-sun? I’m honestly curious as to the scientific specifics of that point, though my friends made fun of me for wondering about it 😃

Your friends were right to make fun of you for that.

You can’t “drown” a mini-sun, because you can’t **make** a mini-sun to begin with. A controlled fusion reaction involving tritium wouldn’t be anything like a sun. It wouldn’t even be all that similar to the **core** of the sun where proton fusion takes place. The “mini-sun” in this movie was obviously cheesy unrealistic comic-book science, because it had a photosphere and sunspots and prominences and a kick-ass magnetic field, just like the real sun but scaled down. I’m surprised there wasn’t a little miniature SOHO satellite orbiting around it taking pictures. 😉

If you want a bouncy villain, how about the Kangaroo?

I never understood how Hammerhead was ever a real threat to anything. It’s not like he had steal balls or anything.

I don’t think one can say that the movie Spider-man is in the same universe as the the movie X-Men (or Fantastic Four). Surely some of those folks would have helped out with “75 percent increase” in crime whwn Spidey quit? Or at least _mentioned_?

My guess is that Raimi is working as if those other folks don’t exist in his Spidey universe, and I think that’s a good idea.

I’d kinda hope that the Marvel movies would negotiate a deal where some concepts were considered “universal” and could be referenced in any movie, i.e. the Daily Bugle, or even the other characters. Copyright hairsplitting has struck me as silly ever since the Fantastic Four cartoon replaced the Human Torch with Herbie, the asshole robot.

> Just another voice shouting “Harry Osborn is NOT Hobgoblin”. Changing his character to Hobgoblin just because it is different from Green Goblin isn’t a good enough reason.

Erm… I think it is, at least to have the differentiation in costumes.

But then, I never read the comic, only watched the (1990’s) cartoon.

As far as I’ve heard, they didn’t replace the Human Torch with Herbie because of copyright concerns. They replaced the Human Torch with Herbie because it was going to be a Saturday morning cartoon shown to little kiddies, and they didn’t want to get sued by angry parents whose kids lit themselves on fire to try and mimic the Human Torch.

When the landlord’s daughter asked Parker if he would like chocolate cake, then they show the crumbs of Parker’s plate and the whole cakee on her’s. I don’t normally talk during movies, but last nite I found myself responding to that line with “that ain’t chocolate cake”. It was yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

I did this cause I was still laughing over the over-the-top “acting” by the baby to save Parker from falling in the burning building. The kid even flexed his muscles. It stretched my credulity to the breaking point.

But it was a decent movie.

That a popular rumour, but the Human Torch had been optioned for a seperate film project by Universal and the rights weren’t available to Hanna-Barbera for their cartoon.

I just pray no one brings up the idea of the “Scarlet Spider” around any of the producers. I can hear the pitch: “Think of it! Spider-Man vs. Spider-Man, it’ll be the biggest thing ever! Plus we can save money be having McGuire play two lead roles for the same money. I tell ya, it’s a win-win here guys!”
