Ever had ‘em? Like kidney stones, only in your salivary glands…They can block the gland so that when you go to eat something, your mouth tries to provide saliva, but instead of saliva you get a big swollen lump around your lower jaw because all the saliva is prevented from entering your mouth. Might hurt or tingle.

The human body is weird.

Funny. I just mentioned yesterday that the one side effect I get from Imitrex is an intense burning sensation in my salivary glands. It only happens when I take Imitrex, and the effect fades after a few hours. Don’t think its salivary stones though.

> Sialolithiasis (also termed salivary calculi, or salivary stones) is a crystallopathy where a calcified mass or sialolith forms within a salivary gland, usually in the duct of the submandibular gland (also termed "Wharton's duct"). Less commonly the parotid gland or rarely the sublingual gland or a minor salivary gland may develop salivary stones.
