I really didn’t like this movie, and don’t really think it’s worth losing too much sleep over, BUT…
Any possibility redistributing the weight of the polar ice caps as they melted would cause massive geological instability? Essentially levelling the Himalayans?
It seems like they use the Waterworld theme a lot for movie trailers. Along with the themes from Aliens, Dragonheart, Stargate and Legend of Bagger Vance, Enya’s Book of Days (or the theme from Far and Away if you prefer), Bethovan’s Ode to Joy (aka “Die Hard” theme) and the chorus to Carmina Burana (aka “Conan music” but not really), it’s probably one of the most overused movie trailer / TV commercial music.
I thought the windmill was just a power generator. Was it implied that the windmill powered the boat?
In high school I built a model boat powered by a windmill. It didn’t work at all - it would just drift downwind. Maybe it was just the poor quality of the windmill (I used something similar to those windspeed indicators, with hemispherical “blades”) but it’s not as easy as it looks. This was long before Waterworld came out, by the way.
