Not an announcer, but funny nonetheless… a few years ago, a friend and I were watching a New York Jets game during a family barbecue. At the time, the Jets had a linebacker named Bryan Cox, who blitzed on one particular play and disrupted the quarterback’s throw. On seeing the (admittedly exciting) play, my friend stood up and loudly exclaimed, “look at the penetration by Cox!” I’m not sure anybody believed we were actually watching football. ---

He is amazingly awesome, but some of the things that come out of [Ray Hudson’s](http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=ray%20hudson&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wv#) mouth are just bizarre. ---

I can’t remember who was playing, but I’ll always remember the call. It was a hockey game. There was a puck in the corner with two players going after it, one of whom blocked out the other and came up with the puck. Now, the announcer meant to say, “Samuelson fights off Heindrich in the corner,” or maybe, “Samuelson beats back Heindrich in the corner,” but what he actually said was “Samuelson \*beats off \*Heindrich in the corner?” And the best part was that he knew preciesley what he said immediately and the other guys had to cover for him because he was laughing so hard. As was I. ---

Not WTF, but funny as hell. Watching a Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Indians game last year. The Rangers had scored a couple of runs off a horribly misplayed ball by Indians RF Ben Francisco. Later on the Texas announcers (not sure who they are) are recapping the scoring: (paraphrasing) “Indians scored (blah, blah blah) and the Rangers scored 2 on a…uh…a Ben Francisco treat”. The way he hesitated over the phrasing made it sound like he thought of it as he was saying it, not a rehearsed joke he thought of between innings.
