# Sports Poll: How many games per season do you attend?

I suppose this can apply to both professional and college sports.
Just a really basic question. In the sport(s) where you actually go to attend games in person, how many games do you make in a typical season? I encourage detail/explanation/background as much as you want to provide.
**Baseball:** I have a mini-season package at Dodger Stadium, so this year, I’ll likely be attending somewhere between 15-25 games. My package gets me 20 games, but I’m sure I won’t make all of those; however, I also may buy additional tickets to games that aren’t part of my package.
I also usually go to one or two Angels games in a year, and maybe one game out of my area. Oh, and I also attend one or two minor league games each season.
**Hockey:** I also have recently found that attending professional hockey games in person is kind of fun, so in the past three seasons, I’ve gone once or twice each. Although I think almost all of those have been free tickets. I haven’t been at all this year yet.
**Football:** When the Raiders played in LA, I probably only went to a game once every couple of years. I’ve enjoyed going to college games in the past (particularly UCLA), but the opportunity just hasn’t come up in recent years.
**Basketball:** I haven’t been to a professional or college basketball game in something like 15 years.
**Soccer:** I’ve still never been to any kind of competitive adult soccer game.

I now have season tickets to the Buckeyes, so I watch more college football than anything. I always try to catch at least one pro football game also. I might catch one or two hockey games a year, and maybe one baseball game. No basketball.

Soccer: I attend one or two MLS games a year. I’d attend more, but the closest team is three hours away and I don’t travel much. That number will go up significantly when the USL team coming to Austin starts playing next year (I already have season tickets for their U-23 team that starts this year).
I don’t attend any other pro sports (unless I’m given free tickets; so very rarely).

**Baseball:** My clinic is the official eye care provider for the Houston Astros. We have season tickets - in a terrific spot - so I make it to three or four games a year.
**Hockey:** There’s no NHL hockey in Houston, but I probably wouldn’t go even if there was. Not a big fan.
**Football:** I’ve attended two or three Texans home games each year I’ve lived here.
**Basketball:** Once again, the office has great seats for the Rockets; I’ve been three times this season.
**Soccer:** We’re also the official eye care provider for the champion Houston Dynamo, and have tons of tickets. I’ve been twice and it’s a blast.

**Football** : One Buccaneers home game per season, and one road game if they play at Miami or Jax. I usually go watch training camp for a couple days each offseason (@ Disney).
Between one and six UCF Knights games per season.
One to four Orlando Predators (Arena League) games a season.
**Wrestling** : (yes, pro wrestling, and yes, I’m counting it) Monday Night Raw once a year, plus the occasional TNA taping (they’re taped at Universal Studios here in Orlando). I’m also going to the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony this year!
**Basketball** : Usually one or two Magic home games a season, maybe more next year if they continue to not suck.
**Baseball** : I’ve been to one Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays game, and one Braves game.
**Rugby** : I’m not in England much these days… maybe once every two years - but if England plays while I’m visiting my brother always has a ticket ready for me.

I follow three sports:
**NFL Football** : Huge Giants fan – once my turn on the season ticket waiting list comes up (latest estimate: 2022!) I’ll be going to a lot more games, but for now I very rarely go. I’ve been once in the past five years, and my presence didn’t help them one bit.
**NBA Basketball** : Knicks fan, with some love for the Nets. I have a lot of connections at the Garden, so most seasons I take in a Knicks game or two (not so much, lately though).
**Minor Leage Baseball** : My in-laws live very close to First Energy Park, so we go to several Lakewood Blue Claws games every year. It’s cheaper than a movie ticket, and it’s a great way to spend a day.

Beat this: Since I attended my first UCF game as a freshman in '99, they’re 2-37 in games I attended, with the two wins being against I estimate that they won at about a .700 clip in games I \*didn’t \* go to.
Along the way, we had a winless season - attended every home game that year; lost to every single BCS team we played until NC State in this years’ season opener - attended nearly all of those _except_ NC State; and lost the inaugural Conference USA championship game in our home stadium (guess who attended THAT one?)

**MLB** - We usually get to 3-4 Dodger games a year, and about the same number of Padre games.
**Minor-League Baseball** - Loyal fans of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, we’ll probably see 12-15 games this season.
There **are** no other sports.

**MLB** - I’ve been trying to go to more Blue Jays games that last couple of years. I think last year, it was 5 games. 2 Red Sox and 3 Yankees; it wasn’t planned like that, it just sort of happened.
**NHL** - Once a year. I’ve only paid for Leafs’ tickets once. Friends always get tickets through work and they take me. And since they’re work tickets they’re always in the expensive seats where I don’t fit in. I hate the “suits”. But still, hockey from 10 rows back is still the most entertaining thing I’ve ever seen.
**NBA** - 5 games last year, 5 games this year. Sitting up in the cheap seats with the real fans where we always have a great time. Heckling Eddy Curry from the 2nd last row of the arena along with the rest of your section is always a good time. It’s a lot more fun that the Raptors have become a pretty good team.
**NFL** - I went to my first NFL game last year. Drove down to Cleveland with a few friends and saw them play the Seahawks. It was a great time but I was really disappointed with the food in the stadium and the fact that they ran out of beer just after half time. I was only looking for a second beer to go with my nachos.
**MLS** - Haven’t been yet. But I’m hoping to make it to one game this year to see the most raucous crowd in the league.

**NHL Hockey** : One or two games a year. When I was living at home my parents had half-season tickets so it was around 20 games a year including the playoffs.

Usually ~17 Giants games, and an odd A’s game here or there. We’ll usually see a game while traveling, if it’s convenient enough.
I’m just getting into basketball, but my roommates see the Warriors probably 9-10 times a year.

\*\*MLB \*\*- I went to 6-8 Nats games the past 2 seasons and expect that to continue. Usually most are spur of the minute with a guy from work who has season tickets and then I buy 1-2 games for my family on a weekend
**NBA** - Wizards maybe 4 games this season and 4 last year. My son is starting to really get into them and I expect this trend to grow most rapidly.

Probably about 8 Cubs games in a given year, maybe a White Sox game every few years, 2-3 Bulls games a year, 1 Bears game, and a Fire game every year or so. Maybe a few extra when traveling if it works out.

**Football** (the real one): It won’t more than half-a-dozen Ipswich matches this season, out of 24 (plus a possible play-off). Mostly because of the cost, but also from being so tired from work on Saturday morning. Two or three years ago I was seeing most matches, but have tailed off since then.

College Student here:
PROS:
NHL - 1ish **Stars** game
MLB - Haven’t seen the **Rangers** in years
NBA - Don’t care
MLS - I have a relative with **FC Dallas** tickets I can get my hands on pretty easily if I’m ever in town at the right time
NFL - Went to one **Cowboys** game ever (last Thanksgiving)
COLLEGE: **Oklahoma State Cowboys and Cowgirls**
Men’s Football - Didn’t miss a home game all season, and made it to one away game - 7
Men’s Basketball - Missed one home game so far, can’t see myself missing any more - 17
Women’s Basketball - Haven’t missed any home games, got to one away game, might go to the NCAA regionals in OKC - 20
Women’s Soccer - Busy at start of year - 9
Wrestling - Made it to a few - 3
Baseball - Dunno how it will work out, but am interested - 20?
Softball - Ditto above - 15?

In the past three years, I’ve gone to 3 MLB games, so that’s 1 MLB game per year, average.
Zero for everything else.
