I couldn’t stand reading all the indignant pussy bleeding in this thread so I skipped everything after the 1st half of the 1st page. Firstly, our television is ran in a free market economy. The networks are capitalist and so are the cable channels. Whatever show you watch that gets pre-empted doesn’t have the same market value as sports, so deal. Or cry about it on a message board. Football and baseball aren’t repetitive anymore than a television show is. I mean, if you want to break the sports down to the retarded level, yeah it is repetitive. But I can do that with a traditional show as well, most shows from the major genres can be summed up in one sentence. It is the specifics of each episode that add flavor, and each football or baseball game has specific interesting and different things going on in them. I can understand the opinions on football and baseball though. Before I loved the two sports I couldn’t stand watching them. And I still don’t “get” soccer I can’t see how any moment in the game is different from any other moment except for when a goal is scored. But I know there is probably a great deal of variety in the specifics from each game, I just don’t take the time to learn soccer and recognize them. Secondly Fox cancelled Futurama because the show’s production values were too high. Lots of CG and other pricey animation in the show. I loved the show too but it wasn’t cancelled because of football. ---
