Maybe it’s just me, but in two brief sojourns out into what some laughingly call the real world, I encountered: - A bumpersticker that read “When the Rapture Comes, You’ll Wish Your Car Had a Jesus Sticker.” It was the only message on the car. - A cardboard standup full of Little Debbie Valentine’s Day pastries etc., showing a cartoon couple necking in a car. All I could think of was the classic Little Debbie slogan, which was not in evidence: “Little Debbie’s Got a Treat for You.” - A sign at the grocery checkout reading “Creative Concepts Foil-Rimmed Hat, 2/$1.” While I assume it was a leftover reminder for POS New Year’s hats or something, my thought was, “Holy shit, they’re selling tinfoil hats at the grocery store now.” Yeah, it’s been a weird day. I finally built the basement bookshelves and between unpacking a half-dozen big cases of books and sorting the shelves, discovered we had: 5 copies of _Ringworld Engineers_. 3 copies of _Imperial Earth_. 3 copies of _The Deep Range_. And duplicate copies of about a dozen more. We could have saved a whole moving truck… We now return you to your usual simulated reality. ---

That’s why they were selling them off so cheaply.🙂
