Spotting Star Trek actors in other programs

I never knew we might have seen “Izzy Madelbaum, Sr” (Lloyd Bridges) on ***Star Trek ***too:

Jeff Corey (“Plasus” in “The Cloud Minders”) in “The Prisoner” episode of Barney Miller. I believe it has also been noted that James Gregory (“Dr Adams” in “Dagger of the Mind”) was a regular (“Inspector Frank Luger”) on BM.

Voyager crewman Lon Suder (Brad Dourif) plays psychos in numerous other places, including Babylon Five and The Lord of the Rings / The Two Towers.

I’ve always speculated that he’s probably the nicest, sanest guy in the world in real life.

Then again, playing crazies seems to run in the family (see daughter Fiona, in Dirk Gently’s Wholistic Detective Agency), so I dunno :).

Elizabeth Dennehy, memorable as the ambitious Cmdr. Shelby, played a preschool teacher in the sf drama Gattaca, which I just saw. Can’t find an online pic of her in the movie, though.

Theodore Marcuse, Korob in Catspaw, played Hugo Dobsa in the 77 Sunset Strip episode, The Catspaw Caper.

Mark Lenard (“Sarek”) and Arthur Batanides (“Lt D’Amato, Geologist”) in the ***M:I ***episode “The Rebel.” Oddly enough, Arthur went uncredited in this one. I had to check his profile to make sure it was him.

I caught an episode of The Six Million Dollar Man the other night and was pretty sure I saw John de Lancie in a very small role. His name wasn’t in the credits, and he wasn’t even listed as “uncredited” on IMDb, but the Bionic Wiki confirms it was him.

Karen Steele (“Eve McHuron”) as a British defector in “The Big Dish” episode of Hogan’s Heroes.

Except I did mention her.

I didn’t want to count her though, because she was a co-lead for four seasons and not just in a cameo.

Daniel Dae Kim (“Corporal Chang” in Enterprise) as a medical student in the ***Seinfeld ***episode “The Burning.”

Marina Sirtis in NCIS as the new head of the Mossad, taking over from Ziva’s father.

Lou “Lokai” Antonio as a US diplomat and Barry “Commodore Wesley” Russo as the warden of a Latin American prison in the M:I episode “The Hostage.”

Was Gwyneth Paltrow ever in Star Trek? I spotted her in an episode of Columbo from 1972; she was very young, could barely recognize her.

According to IMDb, no.

What episode was this? Couldn’t have been Gwyneth, because her mother, Blythe Danner, was pregnant with her when she guest starred in the 1971 episode “Etude in Black.”

As an aside, JoAnne Linville, “The Romulan Commander,” was the whiney, alcoholic wife of murderer Jackie Cooper in “Candidate for Crime.” Katey Segal, “Peg Bundy,”
was Cooper’s secretary at his campaign headquarters. That episode (1973) was directed by her father, Boris Segal.

As another aside, Gwyneth’s cousin Hillary Danner was in the 2001 episode “Murder with Too Many Notes.” I realize it’s a matter of personal taste, but she’s one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR8TzANZdi2O_zUmlll6x1Ww5jo4iY_imrqlDEvAMyHclvDCkEN

Yeah, that’s the episode. I said she was young.

Very young indeed, but on the plus side, not quite old enough that they had to worry about the child labor laws!

Barbara Babcock ( “Mea 3” and “Philana”) as “Mama Bear” in “Happy Birthday, Dear Hogan” on HH.

Looking over her filmography, I see she also voiced Trelane’s mother and the Tholian Commander on TOS, in addition to having other guest roles on HH.

Not only Barbara was a cutie but she represent her characters so differently that it’s amazing how she can change her looks.
