Spotting Star Trek actors in other programs

Ed Begley, Jr, aka “Henry Starling” in Voyager, as “Officer Stein” in the ***Columbo ***episode “How to Dial a Murder.”

Barbara Babcock (again) as rich socialite “Penelope Janvier” in the ***Frasier ***episode “It Takes Two to Tangle.”

Also in this episode is Damara Reilly, the female surgeon in the ***Voyager ***episode “Workforce, Pt 2,” as Marty’s girlfriend “Estelle.”

Stanley Adams, Cyrano Jones in The Trouble With Tribbles, played “The Baron” in *Peter Gunn, Murder on the Midway.
*

Grace Lee Whitney (“Yeoman Rand”), Lee Meriwether (“Losira”), and Lloyd Haynes (“Lt Alden”) in the ***Batman ***episode “King Tut’s Coup.”

William Schallert, Nilz Baris in The Trouble With Tribbles as the Middleton hotel clerk in the incredibly bad TV show,* Five Fingers* episode,* The Unknown Town*.
This series was so bad that David Hedison, later captain Crane of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, was asked to change his stage name, although apparently, he did not.

I discovered a couple of days ago that I can watch ***Voyage *** every day at noon on my cable channel 324. Hoo-boy, I had forgotten just how bad it really is. I had to switch it off today right after the *Seaview *fired its underwater laser. By that time my brain had started to hurt.

This episode also has Michael J. Pollard, Jahn in Miri, as “Davey”.

I record *Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea *on Comcast. I can sometimes make it through an entire episode. Hedison is much better in Five Fingers from the single episode I’ve watched.

I was eight when Voyage aired, and I thought it was stupid then. At least they had 1911A .45s instead of the snub nosed .38s on every other TV show of the time.

I was nine in 1964. The early Cold War/espionage episodes were pretty good (or so I remember), but everything went downhill rapidly not long afterwards.

The thing that strikes me about every Irwin Allen series is just how much time is taken up with people getting knocked around to the same uber-dramatic music. Filler like that made it easy to meet air dates.

That is what reviewers say. I am looking forward to seeing the early episodes.

Meg Wylie (“The Keeper”) as a robotic grandma in the ***Batman ***episode “Black Widow Strikes Again.”

Rosalind Chao (“Keiko O’Brien”) as “Mary Wilson” in the St Elsewhere episode “Not My Type.”

Ken Lynch, Vandenburg the head mining guy from Devil in the Dark, played Grenfeld in the* Rawhide* episode, Abilene.

Another actor who was all over the place.

Jason Isaacs of Star Trek: Discovery played Soviet Marshal Georgi Zhukov (after whom the starship USS Zhukov was named - bonus link!) in the 2018 dark comedy The Death of Stalin.

Diana Muldaur, Dr. Pulaski in STNG, Miranda Jones, Is There No Truth In Beauty?, Ann Mulhall in Return to Tomorrow, played Claire in The Invaders episode, *Life Seekers.

Tell me if Admiral Nelson doesn’t come off as an older, burned-out version of Captain Kirk. I was struck the other day by the similarity between Basehart and Shatner’s styles of acting, especially when they chuckle sardonically.

Of course, there are so many similarities between ***Voyage ***and Star Trek: TOS that I find it hard to believe they were coincidental.

Hmmm…
But Star Trek is real, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea is a TV show. :dubious:

Just saw the wonderful 1984 Mozart movie Amadeus, and spotted two ST alums:

Julie “Lt Palomas” Parrish and Elisha “Samuel Cogley” Cook, Jr, as a figure skater and Icelandic scientist, respectively, in the ***Batman ***episode “Ice Spy.”
