A friend and I were recently discussing spy number stations, the radio broadcast of a woman’s voice giving out a stream of numbers. I vaguely recall reading one of Cecil’s columns about this, but I tried a couple of searches for it that turned up nothing. Anyone else out there remember this one? Maybe the Teeming Millions could give me a link. Thanks in advance!

Cecil sez:

[Who operates those weird “numbers stations” on shortwave radio?](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_330.html)

Here’s a website with listings of stations: [http://www.blackcatsystems.com/numbers/numbers.html](http://www.blackcatsystems.com/numbers/numbers.html)
